The thing that is making jazz healthy today is that people are coming out of other backgrounds – from rock, folk, from ethnic music. It’s changing the music, and for the better.

Life would be so much easier if we had the courage to ask the questions we fear the most.

The game at Washington allows us the opportunity to bring (junior center) Jason Mgebroff back home, as well as graduate assistant Matt Logie ... We always try and get our student-athletes one trip back home during their career, and I know Jason will be very excited to play in that game.

He's not the type of person who would, you know, when things get tough, walk away. You know, it's special people like that, that rise to the occasion.

This is sure to be one of our most demanding schedules, certainly since I've been here. Along with what figures to be a very competitive league schedule, we've added games against some top-notch opponents, which should really challenge our guys and prepare us well for when the league portion of the schedule begins.

Any time in our history when the color barrier is broken, people have made significant sacrifices and stood up for the rights of others. That can't be taken lightly.

(Brown) was physical and aggressive. His intensity exceeded ours tonight.

We had some opportunities early in the game that we didn't convert, and I think that was also part of why we struggled early on. In the second half we went strong to the basket and didn't worry about fouls. We just went up strong and that's when good things happen.
